Sarah Tippett, BMus
Sarah was born in Toronto in 1980 and started playing cello at the age of six. She moved to Vancouver with her family in 1988 and definitely considers herself a Westcoast girl! She studied violoncello performance at UBC and earned her Bachelor of Music in 2004. She has been teaching more and more since graduation, with this fall being her second year of full-time teaching.
Sarah has been teaching cello since she was sixteen, but it was just in the last five years that she has realized how much she loves it! She currently has a studio of about 20 students (and growing!), ranging in age from seven to seventy. She is passionate about teaching and about cello-playing in general, and it is her goal to grow that passion in each of her students.
Aside from teaching, Sarah is the manager of the Grace Notes String Quartet, which performs at various events around Vancouver, including weddings and other receptions. Her quartet even had a role in the wedding scene of “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”…her special claim to fame. She also performs regularly with an Early Music group, the Baranduin Ensemble, of which she is a founding member. The Baranduin Ensemble is just entering its third full concert season and you can check them out at www.baranduin.ca.
